Backing Up Everything

Since my exodus from Google Drive as my ultimate storage solution (I only rely on it now for portable documents and shared content, less than 3 gigs total used), I make it a habit to back up to external USB drives. The process usually takes only a little time, but every once in awhile, I do a complete backup.

One easy solution that I use to keep data synchronized is FreeFileSync. It's a free, open source (and cross-platform) tool that makes synchronizing data across multiple USB external drives (great for creating identical backups) easy. I've written about it in several blog entries:
What are you using to backup your computer's hard drive? If you create hundreds of documents a year, knowing how to make identical backups across multiple USB external drives can be helpful. While you probably do want to store a few files in the cloud for safekeeping, it can be dangerous to put all your eggs in one basket. Consider saving your work in different spaces and ways.

Miguel, Do you also keep your savings in a little strong box in your basement since you don't trust banks? Doug
Well, that would be telling, wouldn't it? Let's just say, it's important to diversify your investments. Wouldn't you agree?
