Darn, I make Steve look good in this photo! Thanks to photographer Mary Ray for sharing the picture!
Actually, it was less me running into anyone and Steve strolling casually by and saying hello. That's one of the powerful aspects of face to face encounters, getting the chance to renew the personal connections that enliven social media connections. I regret I didn't get a chance to chat at length with him, except to tease him about how svelte he's looking!

As a former kindergarten teacher and school Director of Technology, Dembo is a pioneer in the field of educational social networking. Currently serving as Discovery Education’s Director of Social Media Strategy and Online Community. Dembo was among the first educators to realize the power of blogging, podcasting, Twitter, and other Web 2.0 technologies in connecting educators and creating professional learning communities.Ah, I wish I could switch and sit in the audience, basking in the glow of a learned individual like Steve. Alas, it was not meant to be. I must be content with the ELA Academy.
Just teasing, Steve. Keep up the great work of Untangling the Web.
Disclaimer: I did not receive anything for saying nice things about Steve or linking to his book. Hmm. :-)
