Selecting the Right One - Laptop Backpacks, Sleeves, etc.

When I bought my 13inch Macbook back in 2007--and it's still running great with original 80gig hard drive (here's hoping I didn't just jinx it)--I didn't spend a lot of time looking for a bag to carry it in. Now, my daughter is getting a 13inch Macbook Pro, and I'm spending a lot of time trying to find a laptop backpack for her to use. I've found that investing in a carrying case--I eventually invested in a heavy leather laptop bag that looks beautiful, but you guessed it, weighs a bit--up front at time of purchase is better than waiting. It comes from my "protect it while it's brand new" and it will last longer later.

To that end, I began my search just a few days ago and have come across my picks for laptop backpacks and, because I'm always on the lookout for a replacement case for my Macbook, laptop sleeves that will fit into a backpack of my choice ('cause I'm cheap!). I'm grateful to Twitter friends, @lenva and @voodoobill and @nctplarry for their suggestions, shown below:
  • Laptop Messenger Bags
  • Check TJMaxx, Marshals and Ross...I've found everything from Targus to Timbuk2 for less than 30 bucks. BuiltNY sleeves are 10.

Chris Voss shared this via G+ and I started salivating at the sight of this bag, but the price hit me between the eyes--$199:

Unfortunately, as nice as this bag is, I'm not sure I want to pay $199 for it. Someone suggested the following list of bags from Zappos:
As you might guess, this collection didn't grab me at all. Not that there weren't nice selections, but...

I started to wonder if a full laptop backpack would be the best solution. What if my daughter (or I) wanted to just carry the laptop in another backpack? So, I started looking at laptop sleeves but with harder covers. I ran across this Higher Ground Shuttle model:
...and, it looks like this:
Another one that caught my eye is the Booq Vyper M3 Laptop Sleeve:

What are your suggestions? At this point, I'm leaning towards the HigherGround Shuttle.
