- As of Tuesday, 529 school boards approved a resolution to "Make Education a Priority."
- On Monday, officials from districts across the state will join staff from the Texas Association of School Boards to highlight the issue at a press conference in Austin. According to a TASB Legislative Update, this is the first time "a majority of school districts have adopted a common resolution to convey an overwhelming sentiment to our state legislators."
- He said part of the goal of the effort was to bring attention to the inequities and shortcomings of the current system. The school finance system is based on a complex formula that considers average daily attendance (ADA). Weights are given to students in different programs -- special education, English as a second language, and career and technical training to name a few -- to calculate a district's Weighted Average Daily Attendance (WADA).
