Cheap WiFi via USB for #RaspberryPi

Wireless G USB Adapter - works great with the Raspberry Pi Debian Wheezy Raspian
In reviewing my draft proposal for a STEM Summer Camp using the Raspberry Pi, a colleague suggested WiPi to enable wireless access for Raspberry Pi. Unfortunately, WiPi appears to be in short supply, and costs $15.90.

Would a different solution work? I posed the question on the Raspberry Pi Google+ Community and received two responses:
Anyone using WiPi? I've been thinking about just plugging a BlueProton High-Gain BT3 23dbm Wireless G USB 2.0 802.11g Adapter ($4 at Amazon). Find out more about WiPi at http://goo.gl/d9Lk1
You may remember the BlueProton USB Wireless Adapter from a previous post I wrote about connecting desktop computers to a wireless network. You can find a ton more of these USB Wireless-N (because it's faster) adapters online at Amazon.com. The BlueProton, which I purchased to connect an old desktop computer, works great.

This is great because it means you can purchase inexpensive USB wireless adapters and connect the Raspberry Pi. You may already have known this, but it's great to know. Most Wireless-N adapter appear to be in the $12-$16 range, so not much difference between them and the WiPi. That said, there's plenty of them everywhere you look, and not so many WiPi adapters!

Two others that were suggested by folks responding to my Google + query included the following:

This means that you can find WiFi USB Adapters for as low as $4 depending on whether you want Wireless G, or if you need faster Internet via WiFi, get a Wireless N USB adapter (prices range from $12-$16).

The best deal looks to be Gymele's WiFi adapter for Wireless (b/g/n) compatibility for $3.59 ! Cheap, inexpensive, and probably will work on Raspberry Pi. Anyone tried this on it?
