Goodbye, ShowBeyond

Another Web 2.0 service bites the dust. It's a shame. ShowBeyond.com was one of those free web-based services that made it possible to upload some pictures/slides, add audio, then make that content available. Unlike VoiceThread.com, it didn't allow for audio comments which was a good thing depending on your needs.

Although the ShowBeyond team says they failed, I don't see it that way. They offered a great service for educators before their business model succumbed to market forces (I always want to say that):

Dear Showbeyond Users, We tried and we failed you. Things did not work out as we planned. As a result, we'll stop accepting new users starting Oct. 1st and shut down our service at the end of October.
Over the years, we've got a lot of users like you using our service. There were kids doing school projects, teachers promoting new ideas and bloggers telling stories. Many people expressed their supports to our service. It's the users like you drove us till this day and gave us the motivation. Unfortunately, our last effort to revamp our service has failed.
We know every story you created are precious. So we made them available for you to download. You can login to your account and go to mySHOWBEYOND / Stories to download your stories. After the end of October 31st, all account information and stories will be permanently deleted. If you have any question or issues, please email to us at: team@showbeyond.com
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you so much for your support.
The Showbeyond Team

No matter what you believe, thanks to ShowBeyond Team! I'll definitely miss your Education section.
