In a surprising turn of events, the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) has--after interpreting a smile from Anita Givens, TEA Associate Commissioner of Standards and Programs as a blessing--announced that they are hard at work--and soliciting help--on development an 8th grade technology literacy assessment tool.

You may recall that this has been a going concern for Texas school districts, forced to report tech proficiency for 8th graders but with no standardized assessment. Kudos to TCEA for taking the lead two years after the assessment was instituted.

Candace Threadgill made the announcement.
