Process
- Identify the Media you want
- Edublogs.tv (20 meg upload)
- Internet Archive
- SchoolTube.com
- TeacherTube.com (very slow)
- YouTube.com (not at work)
- Make note of citation information for the Media Selected
- Get the Media in whatever format you can (e.g. mov, flv, wma, whatever you can). Use one of these sites:
- Video/Audio Capture/Conversion:
- Image Capture:
- Macintosh - Skitch
- Windows - FastStone (FS) Capture (free version)
- Video Creation
- Convert the Media to the format you need using the web-based tools available or Format Factory (Windows only). This usually needs to be something you can use or play in Powerpoint (WMV/AVI) or Keynote (FLV/MOV/MP4) or share on your SAISD Blog (MP4).
- Remix the Media and Share It with a Wider Audience (citing the original you adapted appropriately). Some web sites you can share media on:
- Video/Audio
- SAISD Blog (your best and first choice for District projects)
- Edublogs.tv (Video in FLV and Audio in MP3)
- TeacherTube.com (Video only)
- Podomatic.com (500 megs for free)
- Internet Archive (unlimited storage, but once uploaded, you can't take it down)
- Images
- Video/Audio
- Copyright Questions, including Creative Commons Introduction
Great stuff! When you receive the embed
code from YouTube, add &start=30 to theURL part of the code. In this example, 30 means 30 seconds but you can change it to any desired value...[read the original post for the example]....

This is a nice "one stop shopping" post for media. I especially like the information you found on starting a video at an exact spot.
