Passion Quilt Redux - Power of Conversations

In February, 2008 of this year, I started the Passion Quilt Meme which promptly went global, expanding across the United States, jumping to other countries, and languages (like Spain). Here's the post that started it all with an invitation to begin again, and encourage every blogger to share what they are passionate about for students to learn in schools.

With Valentine's Day coming up, our Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction wanted to do something special to commemorate the occasion. Unfortunately, it just so happens that Valentine's Day week is one of the busiest, with all the C&I folks, not to mention my office, scattered to the winds attending events and training. . .that means her idea of a breakfast went out the window.

Instead, I suggested a passion quilt. The directions are simple...make a poster--everyone uses the same dimensions--that reflects what they are MOST PASSIONATE about for kids to learn in schools today, then hang them on the entrance wall. The idea isn't mine, since I stole it from an activity my wife did many years ago. A part of me feels that it is a bit corny, but...why not? It's V-Day!

It occurs to me that as edubloggers, we could create our own passion quilt, starting our own meme, each contributing an image that captures what we most passionately want children to learn in school...from our particular perspective. What do you think? How could we assemble this quilt online?

1. Post a picture from a Creative Commons Source or make/take your own that captures what YOU are most passionate about for kids to learn about...and give your picture a short title.
2. Title your blog post "Meme: Passion Quilt" and link back to this blog entry.
3. Include links to 5 folks in your professional learning network or whom you follow on Twitter.
4. Upload your picture to Flickr.com and tag it "PassionQuilt08"
